Why Without Faith It’s Impossible To Please God

Trusting God /

The question that many people might ask is that why is it impossible to please God without faith? Why having faith in God is such a big deal?

First, it’s important to realize that the answer to that question is totally dependent on God Himself since He’s the One making the rules concerning how He interacts with His creation as the supreme and sovereign God of the universe.

But His Word has provided us many reasons why it’s impossible to please Him without faith. So we’ll go over some of them in this article.

Since God is the supreme and sovereign God of the universe, He has established divine principles that govern how we can relate to Him based on how He operates.

His Word is nothing more than the revelation of these divine principles that have already been established within the Godhead: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

These divine principles are the eternal glue that unite the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit together to one purpose.

Therefore, these principles are the soul of how the Godhead works.

As a God who cannot be perceived by the 5 senses: sight, sound, touch, taste and smell; He established faith as the key substance by which we can relate to Him in that regard. He gets to become the object of our faith. That’s why it’s impossible to please Him without faith.

While we may never fully understand why having faith is important, but this is a serious matter that can determine our destiny.

Believing or not believing in God can ultimately determine a person’s eternal fate. Therefore, it is important to examine the importance of faith as emphasized in the Word of God.

Faith Enables Us To Connect To Him

Faith plays a crucial role in inviting and sustaining God’s presence in our lives. When we have faith, we can connect with our Creator in a profound way beyond the physical realm.

God’s unseen presence is always present and surrounding us, regardless of the time or place.

Our faith in Him is the foundational element that allows us to recognize, revere, and accept His existence and divine presence.

This realization helps us to understand that the supernatural realm, in which God resides, is much more substantial and potent than the natural world we inhabit.

Through faith, we come to understand that God shapes the events in our lives. This is because the supernatural realm where He resides holds dominance over the natural world.

Through faith, we can also expand our own beliefs and hopes beyond the limitations of our finite minds and the physical world.

Faith In God Is All About Trusting Him

Let us examine the verses from Hebrews chapter 11 that provide insight on faith.

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see (Hebrews 11:1).

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him (Hebrews 11:6).

To begin, faith involves recognizing the absolute existence of God, including His invisible qualities such as eternal power and divine nature as demonstrated in the creation of the world (Romans 1:20).

It also includes the belief that God rewards those who earnestly seek Him. Rewarding the faithful is a reflection of God’s character as can be seen in different verses of the Bible, such as (Exodus 3:14, Philippians 4:19, Proverbs 16:3, Jeremiah 29:11, and Numbers 23:19).

Faith rests on two important beliefs: the acknowledgment of God’s existence and a strong conviction that He rewards those who sincerely seek Him.

These two pillars of faith, i.e., recognizing God’s existence and seeking Him earnestly, are intimately connected. It is impossible to wholeheartedly seek God if you do not acknowledge His existence. On the same note, you cannot honor God unless you seek Him wholeheartedly.

Pleasing God requires a combination of both pillars. To please God, we have to follow His precepts rather than rely on our own understanding.

Remember, seeking God earnestly will always bear fruit and will never be in vain, as we can see in (Jeremiah 29:13) and (Deuteronomy 4:29).

The inseparable bond between acknowledging God’s existence and seeking Him earnestly is fundamental to our Christian faith.

Faith is the bedrock of our relationship with God, and it requires us to believe in His existence and trust in His promises.

When we seek Him earnestly, we are acknowledging that He is the source of all truth, wisdom, and power, and we are demonstrating our dependence on Him.

In return, God promises to reveal Himself to us and to guide us in all aspects of our lives.

Having faith in God means placing our trust in Him above anything or anyone else.

Why Not Having Faith In God Doesn’t Please Him

Trust is closely tied to someone’s integrity, reputation, character, image, and ability.

Therefore, it is easy to understand why God is not pleased when people claim to be Christians yet do not fully believe in Him.

When you cannot trust God with your life, this is dishonoring His character, Word, and integrity.

Not fully trusting and believing in God can be considered a form of idolatry.

This is because you are trusting something or someone else more than God. Lack of believing is often caused by something that goes against how God wants us to perceive Him in the face of difficult circumstances.

As a result, not believing is a major obstacle that prevents us from realizing our full potential in Him.

The question is whether we let fear and uncertainty about the future to take up the space in our lives that should be occupied by God.

Anything that prevents us from trusting God is functioning as a god in our lives. This is because it determines our beliefs regarding God and takes precedence over what God says in His written Word.

God requires that anything done in His name must reflect His greatness. This means that we must give Him our very best in all that we do for Him.

When it comes to trusting God, we must do so without reservation. We must also shift our focus away from any obstacles that may hinder our ability to trust Him.

To trust in God is to rise above our human weaknesses that hold us down and prevent us from operating at the level of faith that He wants.

Essentially, faith brings glory to God by acknowledging and trusting in His character and ability to do what He says in His Word.

On the flip side, unbelief dishonors God by failing to recognize His trustworthiness, greatness, and faithfulness.

Conclusion

As Christians, our lives are built on the foundation of belief in God through Christ. This faith makes God a reality in our lives.

However, when we allow unbelief to take hold of us, we are essentially rejecting God and His promises.

Not having faith in God can be detrimental both our salvation and our relationship with Him.

The strength of our faith in our Father determines our maturity and ability to withstand life’s challenges.

It is crucial to please God by trusting Him in a manner that respects His character.
