Stop Allowing Satan To Have His Ways In The Marriage Covenant

Must Know Bible Basics /

It’s imperative for married couples to stay on high alert concerning the fact that they’re fighting against a very powerful, deceptive, and destructive enemy.

The bible warns us in (Ephesians 6:12) that we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

So maintaining a great marriage isn’t limited only to the God-given responsibilities that both individuals have toward each other; in other words, the responsibilities they have to please each other.

But being vigilant is of great importance since there’s an enemy who is trying to do his very best to infiltrate into the marriage covenant in order to create instability.

Satan hates to the core any divine institution that God has created to bring order and stability in the human life, especially the marriage institution.

His utmost objective is to bring division and destruction within that covenant. Because when there’s unity within a marriage covenant, there’s a significant level of readiness to fend off any sort of demonic attacks that may occur.

What about the children that are being raised in such covenant? The way children are raised is exactly what will play a major role in deciding who they’ll become tomorrow, along with the role they will play in society.

That’s the reason why it’s so critical that both parents serve as a role model for their children.

Fighting Against Satan Hinges On Embracing Our God-given Responsibilities

While we’re wrestling against an enemy, but that doesn’t take away the responsibility that we have toward God and ourselves because Satan cannot make a child of God do something without such person’s consent.

Therefore if Satan finds his way into a marriage, it’s because the way the couple is living or the way either one of the individuals is living has permitted him to come in.

Lot of times people are living their lives under the influence of Satan while being totally unaware of that. And being ignorant doesn’t alter the agenda of Satan. So the area that you ignore the most is the exact area the enemy will exploit the most in order to accomplish his agenda.

The most common way that Satan can destroy a marriage is through selfishness, frustration, arrogance, anger, pride, bitterness, sexual immorality, and violence.

The big issue is that there are many people who have a big problem with forgiving. It doesn’t really matter how long something had happened, but it still remains fresh in their minds.

In many cases, these individuals have become pure opportunist in the sense of trying to pick any moment in order for them to unleash the very things that are eating them up on the inside.

There Will Be Fallouts as a Result.

There’s no doubt about the fact these types of behaviors will be problematic to a marriage because it literally creates an environment where there cannot be the type of mutual submission that God has commanded (Ephesians 5:21).

These people have become frustrated, selfish, arrogant, prideful, angry, bitter, and insensitive. Consequently, they are easily provoked to act out accordingly. These things are nothing more than the devil’s works in people’s lives in order to bring instability and chaos.

It’s very important that married couples spend time dealing with their innermost struggles by casting their burden upon the LORD (Psalm 55:22).

Why? Your behavior is just a reflection or an expression of what’s going on the inside of you. Thus there are certain negative issues that you allow to run their full course in your life, they’ll ultimately influence your behavior in a big way.

People have a tendency to unleash on others the frustration, anger, and bitterness they are struggling with as a result of bad treatments they had received from others.

Many times the type of bizarre reactions you’ve received from people is a direct result of these things going on within them. They’re being eaten up on the inside while being unwilling to address their problem responsibly.

Perhaps, the problem that you’ve run into with your spouse is a result of something you may have done a long time ago you didn’t even think would have been an issue.

The Word of God says in (Ephesians 4:26), do not let the sun go down while you are still angry. Well, there’s a great danger to that both physically and spiritually.

Because all of the bad feelings that people are hanging unto are the very things that will potentially become a major influence within their marriage. Therefore through these feelings, Satan finds an opening in order for him to operate as he wants.

Conclusion

Both individuals need to be very vigilant. They should ask God for discernment, so that they can properly discern the works of Satan in the life of their spouse as well as their lives.

Married couples also need to rise up in order to defend that institution from every aspects. They have to stand up against that enemy that has already destroyed countless number of marriages by using the authority that God has given them.

It doesn’t make any sense at all to allow the same enemy that has been fighting you all along even before you were married to use you as a weapon in order to bring destruction on your own family.
